Safari Northern Circuit
Tanzania’s safari/game parks are among the most reputable in the world and among the country’s most prized assets; they are certainly one of main tourist attractions. While parks can be found throughout the territory, those located on the Northern Circuit are the most popular. This is no surprise, given that the legendary Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are part of this magnificent circuit; the other two main parks included in this circuit are Lake Manyara and Tarangire.
Tanzania is famous for its abundant and varied wildlife. Not only is it well known for being home to the “Big 5” (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo), but also for its numerous species of birds, flowers, plants, and trees, as well as for its breathtaking landscapes. All this and more will make your Tanzanian safari a fascinating and unforgettable experience.
During your safari, you will be accompanied by a fully qualified, expert driver-guide. He will amaze you with his ability to spot the most hidden animals and with his in-depth knowledge of Tanzania’s wildlife, plants, and trees. You will travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle, with a roof that opens. Drinking water and all meals are provided throughout the trip.
Accommodations
Good African Tours offer all types of accommodation while on safari, from basic camping to 5-star hotels.
If you choose to camp, you will be provided with all of the necessary camping equipment, including good-quality tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows, tables, and chairs. A professional cook will travel with you to ensure that your breakfast is ready when you wake up in the morning, and to prepare your lunch and dinner for your return after game drives. Lunch boxes are provided for full-day game drives.
The lodge option offers you the possibility of staying right on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, as well as more opportunities to stay overnight in the middle of the wildlife world. Each lodge has comfortable rooms, including a self-contained toilet and a shower room with warm water.
The luxury option will make your safari even more special, with an added degree of comfort and top-notch facilities in general. Whether in luxury lodges or luxury tented camps, there is a large variety of accommodation.
The hotels provide three meals a day, with lunch boxes on a full day game drive.
Add to your Safari
In addition to the regular game drives, there are numerous other enjoyable activities to take advantage of along the northern circuit, including balloon safaris in the Serengeti and bush-walking along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
You can also include a short visit, or camp the night in a local Maasai village. Learn about Maasai traditional medicine, have a go at milking the cows, and help collect firewood before settling down to enjoy the sunset. You will also have the opportunity to take part in a Maasai dance– an experience you will never forget!
If you are up for a challenge, why not combine your safari with a hike up Ol Doinyo Lengai, a volcanic mountain considered to be the “Mountain of God” by the Maasai. The climb normally starts at mid night (to arrive at the summit in time for sunrise), you can take a few hours’ rest at the campsite at Lake Natron beforehand. More details on Ol Doinyo Lengai can be found in the “Trekking” tab.
