Tarangire National Park

Tarangire may be less well known than the other main national parks on the Northern Circuit, but is certainly not less rewarding. This magnificent park is the surprise package, being famous for its unusually large elephant population, great bird-watching (the park’s swamps attract the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world), majestic baobab trees, and calm atmosphere. Its landscapes and vegetation are extremely varied, with a mix you won’t find in any of the other Northern Circuit parks. The animals are concentrated along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area.

Tarangire is also known for its pythons, which climb trees, as do the lions and leopards. Beware what you may find lurking among the branches! Overall, this is a superb park that offers great value, with less traffic compared to its neighbours. Tarangire is the perfect option for getting away from it all while soaking up a peaceful authentic safari atmosphere.
